3½ weeks from idea to 200 high-pressure die cast light metal hooks

Etac A/S, one of the world's leading developers of ergonomic aids, produces lifts and slings that can lift the user safely. These lifts and slings needed to be updated with a new metal hook, and we took on this task together.

Because we have all the necessary resources under one roof, we were able to do it in 3½ weeks:

  • Receive 3D file
  • Create DFM (Design For Manufacturing)
  • Perform flow analysis
  • Produce moulding tools in our highly automated tool factory
  • High-pressure die-cast 200 light metal prototypes in our metal foundry

After successful testing of the prototypes, we cast 8000 pieces for use in the final production of lifts and sails. The parts for production were cast in the same mould as the prototypes.

"It was important for us to test the new prototypes quickly on the market, which is why we chose Idé-Pro as our supplier. We knew that they could deliver the prototypes in a very short time and then produce the hook in the quality that we and our customers expect."
Peter Jensen, Head of R&D Patient Handling, Etac AB

Cast by the right process in the right material

At Idé-Pro, we mould and cast prototypes in the same material and process as in serial production, so they can be used directly in the final construction, for testing, etc. The design specifications are the same as with traditional die casting.
