Plastic compounding

New life for plastic materials

At Idé-Pro, we value sustainability and as a plastics manufacturer, we try to make the best possible use of surplus plastic from production.

With our extrusion machines, we compound the surplus plastic - a process where crushed plastic is heated and added additives and perhaps colouring, before it is cooled and made into plastic granulate, which is ready for injection moulding.

The extrusion machines have side feeders that allow adding additives and colour to produce new plastic with desired properties.

The video to the right shows our production extruder, which can compound up to 250kg per hour.

Compounding

In-house compounding

  • Twin screw extrusion machines
  • Gravimetric dosing of additives
  • Side feeder for talcum powder
  • Side feeder for fibre

Old items are grinded

  • Measures properties
  • Adds additives + possibly colour
  • New plastic granulate with desired properties

In short, we can recycle and modify surplus plastic to suit our customers' desired materials, additives and colours.

In-house test lab

Mechanical properties are tested in our in-house lab:

  • Impact test
  • Tensile test
  • Melt index
  • UV test
  • UL94 test

We test the mechanical properties of the compounded plastic to ensure it has the desired properties and fulfils quality requirements
